RIVER:

 

The developer is planning to create a new pedestrian bridge linking Tesco to the housing estate; they are also planning ecological areas and places where people can sit and enjoy the river.

 

Currently the site looks run down and many are tired of this view, so the proposal for a nice riverside walk is appealing if it is executed sensitively. Others recognise that the estate is run down because of years in which it has been in limbo and this could be remedied with some renovation. In fact, a riverside walk could be a lot more interesting if integrated with existing community gardens, glass-fronted artists’ studios and moorings for boats. Lewesians already have plenty of space on the other side of the river for sitting around and enjoying the river.
